Kizmet
Appaloosa pony 13.2 H
I was delighted to welcome Kizmet to SkyLine Farm in the summer of 2008. She hopped off the trailer and I turned her out into the pasture by the stable - she settled in right away.
The next day I went to catch her and she evaded me with maneuvers that would have impressed the orginal James Bond, himself. I guess she was thinking Ahhhhh, finally retirement - well Kizmet, almost but not quite. In a short time, treats came to over-rule reason at round up time so I think she and I have come to an agreement about that.
Kizmet is what we call a professional school pony and a fantastic one at that. I was lucky enough to acquire her because she got caught up in the equine version of a corporate downsizing when her previous owner re-aligned the business. Quiet and safe with her young riders - she’s the best. Well, nobody’s perfect and its true she needs a bit of encouragement to build up a little speed - but what a confidence builder for our young riders to share their ride with her.
Kizmet has built up a lot of wisdom in her years - looking far younger than she is, she’s not about to reveal her true age. She will scamper around a small hunter course at a schooling show never looking twice at any obstacle or carry a novice through their first walk-trot show class to a finale of beaming, beaming smiles . It should come as no surprise that I report to you that she is the most photographed pony at SkyLine Farm and possibly in all of Eastern Ontario.
Best horse friend - Skippy, seems he has no choice in the matter.
Favourite treat - anything that the others are getting.
Best trick - posing for the camera.
Birthplace - Ottawa
